We have offered Astrid Medina’s coffee in the past and are excited to get our hands on a geisha for the Tasting Series. Astrid’s 15 hectare farm, Finca Buena Vista, is located in an area of Colombia once known for violence between guerrillas, drug traffickers, and government paramilitary groups. Since Astrid’s coffee won the 2015 Cup of Excellence in Columbia, much has changed with a renewed interest in the quality of coffee coming from the region. Astrid and other coffee producers in Planadas, Tolima region have invested heavily in improving their farms and the lives of their workers who perform much of the work. Astrid is especially proud that growing specialty coffee has given her the opportunity to provide top-notch education and for her children.
We are tasting a bright and fruity cup with notes of stone fruit—apricot and plum, with punchy strawberries and interesting florals. Notes of black tea provide a refreshing and drinkable quality to this brew. Enjoy!

The strawberry aftertaste was predominant, though the bright acidity at the beginning of the taste was like a little flavour explosion of tangy nectarine which just mellowed out into lingering strawberry and maybe honeysuckle.
