Finca la Bolsa
Huehuetenango, Guatemala
Variety: Bourbon, Caturra
Processing: Washed
Origin: Huehuetenango, Guatemala
Producers: Vides family
Altitude: 1500 - 1700 masl
Finca La Bolsa has been run by the Vides family since 1958. Just 6km from the Interamerican Highway it is still so remote that the only access was on horse-back until recently.
This coffee is a delicious example of a Huehuetenango coffee. All toffee and chocolate flavors with some tasty fruit to set it all off. We've been shipping a lot of East African coffees for the last few weeks so it's nice to switch it up every so often, enjoy!

A good change of pace with a nice mellow taste of toffee. Tried a finer grind on day 3 and for some reason the coffee tasted a bit more tasty.

My first cup of Moustache Coffee! Finca bolsa has been a distinctive change of pace for me. I wanted to try something different from the darker roasts, which I have drunk for years. The bright and fruity taste of my first cup was light and refreshing, rather like a breezy Fall afternoon. I suspect I am a little jaded by years of dark roasts, here, as I felt that the deeper flavors were understated. I 'got' cherry and plum notes, but struggled a little to find anything like toffee or chocolate. Again, this is probably me. I shall experiment with grind settings to see what can be found.
