Los Arayanes
Variety: Caturra, Castillo
Processing: Washed
Crop Year: 2017
Origin: Narino, Colombia
Producers: Bernul Munoz
Altitude: 1950m
This exceptional washed coffee originated in Colombia's famed Narino region where it was grown high in the mountains on Bernul Munoz' farm Los Arayanes. If you recognize the name, that's because we've shipped some of Bernul's coffee before. We're always impressed by the bold flavors that stand out in his coffee, and we're beyond stoked to bring you a new lot from one of Narino's best coffee growers.
These Caturra & Castillo beans evoke primarily robust flavors like toasted almond and cacao nib, which make for a smooth, drinkable cup that goes perfect with breakfast. There's a touch of fruity sweetness coming from a subtle pear note, but nothing too acidic or bright overpowering the rich, warm taste of nuts and chocolate. We love this coffee, and we hope you do too!

I was thoroughly impressed by this full-bodied cup of coffee. It was great thru my auto-drip, but absolutely amazing thru my Hario pour over. Truly a gem and I'm ordering another bag while it's still available.

I was impressed by the development of the flavor profile in my cup. Started with a bright fruity flavor and resolved with the almond/chocolate note. Aftertaste had a mouth-watering quality.

I loved this coffee but im sad to say it left me with heartburn on a few occasions. Overall, the taste was exquisite and I loved it, but something in this roast caused me to get heartburn.

Brewed in an Aeropress, two scoops of beans, standard inverted method. I'm not particularly knowledgeable or proficient with coffee, but my impressions were: Nose: "Darker" than the taste, this is where I picked up the cacao notes. Taste: Sharper and seemed brighter. While very hot almost sour, the more complex/fruity flavors manifested as my cup cooled down. Looked for the almond but couldn't really pick it out. No unpleasant aftertaste or mouthfeel. In the end a smooth, pleasant cup of coffee, but wish I could pick out more of the distinct flavors.

Nice, certainly better that Peets or Starbucks, but the price is way out of range for this buyer. As I feared.

Very interesting coffee. I'm not yet very good at describing but it was amazing due to the several layers of columbian flavor. They didn't hit you all at once like some acidic versions will. Thorougly enjoyed...

Not sure if this was supposed to be in the Classic Profile subscription or not, but that's what it reminds me of. A full-bodied, robust roast with notes of cacao and some nuttiness. Personally, I'd prefer a bit more brightness and complexity, but this is a nice everyday coffee to drink.

We are still learning how to taste, rate.....but,I am SO glad I joined this club! My besthalf is somewhat of a snob, he is French. So, we are learning together, but we are both, very impressed. This coffee was so smoothe and tasty, I could almost drink it black, certainly without cream. Something, prior to this journey, I would have NEVEr considered! thanks.
