La Isabel
Marcala, Honduras
Variety: Catuai
Processing: Washed
Origin: Marcala, Honduras
Producers: Marysabel Caballero
Altitude: 1600m
This lot of washed Catuai coffee was grown on Marysabel Caballero's La Puente farm in Honduras. She inherited the land from her father, who divided his commodity coffee farmland among his children. Marysabel took to the profession with vigor, and now manages several successful farms and a coffee mill with her husband Moises. As their operation has grown, they've doubled down on quality and focused on growing coffee for the specialty market - making them a leader in their region and elevating the status of Honduran coffee in the process. Their drive and attention to detail really shows with each lot, and we can't wait to get our hands on more!
La Isabel #17 is a bright, bodacious washed coffee with all sorts of flavor power. We love how the peachy stonefruit note stands out immediately with a sweet and tart kick, followed up by juicy cherry tastes and some subtle floral qualities to round out things out. This is definitely on the bright side of coffees that we've seen recently, though the acidity isn't as noticeable as coffees with more citrusy tastes. The body is light and clean, making for an excellent pour-over or Aeropress brew. If you love it as much as we do, be sure to rate this coffee so that you'll receive similar coffees in the future!

Hopefully I'm not premature in my reaction, because I just brewed my first cup. Haven't messed with ratios or dialing-in since my last batch, but it tastes amazing. Very light, just how I like it, with a noticeable fruity (or is it floral? I don't know what flowers taste like) even to my amateur palette.

I have really enjoyed this coffee so far, both as a drip brew and as a french press.
