We're very excited to be featuring this lot of Caturra and Bourbon from Franciso Martin's La Colmenita farm. Mr. Martin is a very dedicated farmer whose primary goal is quality - when he realized the best place to dry coffee on his property is where his house stands, be built a drying patio on the roof to make the most of his crops. The name may sound familiar because we featured one of Mr. Martin's lots in 2018 and it was very popular. When we saw there were more coffees available from him this year we jumped at the chance to taste them, and this lot was a no-brainer for us to share with the club. It's always fun to see how different lots from the same farmer perform - and what tastes stand out year over year.
La Colmenita #2 is a great representation of all the flavors that we've come to love in Guatemalan coffee. There's a juicy and sweet peach note, some sharp grapefruit tartness, and smooth nutty qualities that all coexist harmoniously. Thinking back to last year's lot - this cup seems to dial up that nutty flavor and introduce a bit more complexity with the grapefruit acidity. We can't wait to see how Mr. Martin's coffees fare next year and beyond - but for now, we'll sit back and enjoy a cup of La Colmenita #2. With a coffee this good, you'll want to live wholly in the moment.

I honestly invested in a coffee grinder, just to do this. I am very happy that I did invest in a coffee grinder it was so smooth, but had a good kick to honestly 6/5
